Check-in for trouble - the new air tax
Millions of holidaymakers are likely to face chaos at airports around Britain as airlines threaten to stop passengers flying if they do not pay a new air tax.
Despite booking and paying for their tickets months ago, families setting off on half-term breaks and ski trips could find themselves being prevented from boarding by airline staff forced to act as unofficial tax collectors.
Those flying into the UK could also be stopped on arrival and prevented from entering the country unless they pay what has been dubbed the "poll tax of the skies".
