The Times' take on this is:
This is the age of the blog. The web log has liberated
the witty and wise — and the lonely and self-obsessed — from the need to find an
audience. On the internet readers are already there. Anyone with something to
say no longer has to flatter editors and producers in order to be heard. They
can simply sit at a computer — or, even more simply, hold one in their fingers —
and write a web log. If the “blog” is worth reading the audience will grow
exponentially.
Quite right too
