The Sun's exclusive this morning in releasing the transcript of the video of a US pilot opening fire on British forces during the invasion of Iraq has proved embarrasing to the MOD who had maintained for a long time that the video did not exist and when its existence was acknowledged would not give permission for it to be shown.
Quite how the Sun hold of it is unclear but it seems now that there is no reason why the coroner's court cannot be shown the video.
It clearly shows errors on the part of the US military after the pilot was reassured that there were no coalition forces in the area even though the markings on the convoy were clearly identified.
The paper has now handed over the tape to the coroner
