Chinese Journalistic Practices

The First Post are running a story about changing journalistic practices in China.

"China's press watchdog has banned journalists from their traditional means of making a decent living: accepting cash kickbacks for writing positive reports, and extorting protection money in return for making bad news disappear. "

According to the report it follows the death of a reporter Lan Chengzhang,who was alleged to have tried to collect money from the owner of an illegal coal mine to keep quirt about its activities.He was beaten to death whilst on the way to a meeting with the owner.
