Media Wars in Spain

I have been reading a short article in last week's Economist magazine about a current media war in Spain.

The skirmishes are taking place between the People' s Party(PP),the Conservative oppositio who lost the last election after wrongly accusing ETA of the Madrid train explosions, and Grupo PRISA who are Spain's largest media group and who own El Pais amongst their many interests.

The gist of the argument concerns a speach given by PRISA president,Jesus De Polanco where he accused the PP of being willing to do anything to regain power in the country including returning the country to a state of civil war.

The consequence is that PP politicans now refuse to appear on any of the media connected to PRISA and probably reducing its chances of returning to power.
