On covering student elections

Dave Lee and his team of Student journalists carried out the difficult task of reporting live online the student union by election at Lincoln University.

His biggest problem, it appears, was not the coverage of the event but the general level of student apathy towards student union representation.One of his journos writes

Maybe the most interesting thing about this election is how little interest the students have shown in it.
Few candidates ran, with no one running for Students’ Union president, and only one for Communications Officer, which were the two full time, paid positions.
And as well there being little interest in the positions, there was also very little interest in the voting
