Website profits from England's demise

One thing that England's exit from the European championships did, despite sending potential profits tumbling in the brewery, supermarket and sportswear industry was to give the BBC record visitors to its website

According to its sports editors blog, the website was visited by 3.9 million people breaking a record set in September of 3.7m after Jose Mourhino left Chelsea and 3.65m after England were knocked out of the 2006 world cup.
