Death of newspapers by 2014

Or at least that's what a panel at the World Economic forum says and yes we have heard it all before(Via Follow the media)

I still find this argument hard to swallow as does Philip Stone of the above.

Not withstanding the ceonomic arguments that print still supplies the large proportion of revenue,and that online have not got a viable economic model,there is still the convenience question.

People simply like to pick up a paper,it's nioce to flick thru a magazine and its convenient.The technology to replace is not yet proven.


Don't get me wrong,I am not a luddite.I recognise the important contribution that it gives and will give in the feature.It is never going to replace newspapers altogether and as will other technologies,eg Tv and Radio it will compliment and enhance.
