Although not a Manchester United fan by any stretch of the imagination,as a soccer fan in general,today is a poignant moment in the history of the game as 50 years ago this afternoon,23 players,officials and journalists died on the snow covered runway of Munich Airport.
Amongst the casualties were 8 journalists who were on their way back from reporting United's three all draw with Red Star Belgrade.
The Manchester Evening News is obviously at the centre of the reporting on today's commemorations and looking back at the events 50 years ago and has produced a special supplement
