Technology will destroy traditional media but open it to all

Rupert Murdoch has been speaking at GeorgeTown university( thanks to Steve Borris)about amongst other things the impact of technology.

He warns that

“technology will continue to destroy all of the old ways and old assumptions, especially in the media
and adds

we can never be sure where the industry will end up,It is true that technology is changing accepted ways of doing business. It’s making us work harder for our customers.”

But one change for the good according to the media mogul is that it will give more access to news and entertainment for people that cannot afford it

For Steve this can mean only one thing

The history of news clearly tells us the result when that happens — news goes “low class.” That is, a larger percentage of news content caters to the less cultured tastes of the downscale. It means less politics and business, and more sex. violence, crime, and human interest. More titillation, less deliberation. More sensationalism, less restrained-ism.
