The Independent-Is it anymore?

Roy Greenslade reckons that the Independent is being guided towards the Tory party by its new editor Roger Alton. The signs?

Well according to Roy this morning's paper contains all the pre requisites of a Tory paper

His front page says it all: big blurb about "Groovy Old Men" (more on that in a moment); a splash Tories ready to rule, say voters with text below plus a picture of David Cameron kissing his wife; three more blurbs, including one with a hint of cleavage.
The choice of splash, with its sympathetic Tory presentation, is a departure. It is reporting a poll result, of course, and there isn't a hint in Andy Grice's straightforward report of a change of political line. But I wonder whether this would have made the front of the Indy two months ago?

But for Roy the giveaway is the feature running all week on "Preparing for Power" which today kicks off with the question Can Cameron's formula fix the 'broken' society? written by the paper's political correspondent Andrew Grice

This blog will watch with baited breathe
