Orwell prize now has a blogging catagory

I think that it is excellent news that the Orwell prize are recognising blogging in one of their categories.

So much for the death of blogging and the rise of twitter

Running alongside the Book Prize and Journalism Prize this year, submissions will open on 22nd October 2008 and close on 14th January 2009, for all work published for the first time in the calendar year 2008. A long list of 12 blogs will be announced on Wednesday 25th February 2009, a shortlist of 6 blogs on Wednesday 25th March 2009 and the winner at the Orwell Prize Awards Ceremony on 22nd April 2009.
