Lonely Planet goes ahead on Friday

So the BBC is finally launching the Lonely Planet magazine this Friday reports Press Gazette)

This has been one of the more controversial moves by the corporation.Particularly vocal has been Wonderlust magazine which has accused the Beeb of creating unfair competition by targeting its advertisers and undercutting the magazine.

More importantly the tie up between the two companies was viewed as being a unfair use of license payers money after it bought a 75 per cent stake in the travel publisher for £89.9m
