Leave the snow scenes to You Tube and Flickr

I don't know about you but the endless coverage of pictures of snow scenes from around the country has started to wear a little thin.

Charlie Beckett makes a very good point on his blog about the endless coverage on the BBC.

But is this what the BBC is for? Couldn’t Flickr and YouTube have done that job?

Couldn't agree more Charlie who continues

The material was not used to reveal hidden facts, it did not chart a particular narrative untold my mainstream media, nor did it map a story. It was simply there to illustrate individual people’s snapshots of a huge weather event.

Nigel,
You take me out of context (and that's my job...)I raise the objection you quote to the BBC's gathering of weather-related UGC, but by the end of the article I conclude the opposite and decide that one job of journalistic organisations like the BBC is to be a place where we can share our experiences, not just break 'news stories'.
cheers
