News of the World's phone hacking claims contradicted

The controversy over the News of the World's telephone hacking techniques continues.

There are now claims that well over 100 people have had their private accounts hacked.

Three leading mobile phone companies have told the Guardian that they have discovered a total of more than 100 customers whose voicemail was accessed by the private investigator and the journalist at the centre of the phone-hacking scandal at the News of the World.
and as Nck Davies reports in that paper

This directly contradicts the official version of events promoted by the newspaper and police that there were "only a handful" of victims in the scandal.
