Citizen journalism is rescuing press freedoms in Morocco according to a report on Editors Weblog.

The Moroccan press has seen its freedoms eroded in recent months but bloggers are managing to get their views across.

The crackdown has come ahead of elections for the legislator to be held today.

Recent weeks have seen the trial of an editor for "disrespecTing the king" after a article criticized a speech he gave.Another journalist was sentenced to 8 months in jail for publishing a leaked internal security memo.
