I have just watched Michael Cockerill's 1994 film on Bill Deedes which was shown recently again on BBC following his death.

The film ends with Bill's words which maybe should encapsulate the feelings of journalists

"I'm not interested in what happened yesterday....you can't have it again.What happens tomorrow is what matters and if you can guess right....where the story is going to be,it will give you enormous satisfaction".
