Twitter-what is going on?

I wondered why my mobile phone has stopped tweeting so to speak.

It turns out that twitter has cancelled the facility to update using SMS text messaging from outside of the Americas and India.The reason given is that they have failed to reach an agreement with the mobile phone operators.

Now call me stupid but surely this takes half of the reasoning why twitter can be such an important tool for journalists.The ability to receive updates while on the move.
