Big Brother In Trouble

A story just out on Media Guardian

Complaints about alleged racism on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother have hit nearly 10,000, making it one of the most complained-about shows of all time.
Media regulator Ofcom said it had received 7,600 complaints by 5pm today, while Channel 4 confirmed it had received 2,000.
This is already the most complaints ever received about Big Brother or Celebrity Big Brother.

It also reports the comments of MP Keith Vaz who

said Big Brother had a "role to play in preventing racist behaviour" in the house and called on the programme to take "urgent action to remind housemates that racist behaviour is unacceptable".

The Independent's media page is reporting that Channel 4

was forced to step into the debate and said it was monitoring the housemates for any signs of racism or bullying.
The broadcaster said in a statement: "The social interactions and dynamics of the group are one of the key parts of the Big Brother story and viewers have a right to see these portrayed accurately - however this is balanced with our duty not to broadcast material that may cause unjustifiable offence.
"We take this matter very seriously and Big Brother does not tolerate bullying or racist abuse in any form. Big Brother is closely monitoring all the housemates and will take appropriate measures to reprimand such behaviour where necessary."
