Mirror Website Relaunches

It is the week for Nationals changing their websites.

Following the Times on Monday the Mirror follows suit today with rather a glitzy new production.Lots of video links which makes the site quite noisy and they ahve gone for the horizontal tabs as did the Times across the top.

Slightly better than the previous version in initial layout and navigation but it is the video that is creating all the comment.

Since I started this blog in early summer last year I have visited hundreds of newspaper websites across Britain and across the world. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. But I have never come across one quite as inept as this new Mirror offering. Ironic, isn't it, that as the newspaper itself improves it manages to screw up the platform designed to win over new, young readers. Back to the drawing board, lads. And quickly.
