From the Editor's weblog, an article by French Communications professor Patrick-Yves Badillo,in which he discusses the effects of information and communications technology on journalism. He refers to (Tic) resulting in
an over-abudance of information. Consequently, this over-abundance causes an attention deficit for the reader, or viewer. In effect, there is more technology and distribution channels, but less actual information production.
This according to Badillo is where journalists step in.He refers to the journalist as "the human aspect of the information process" who makes the information relevent and gives it quality.
But the journalist
is a victim of the TIC over-abundance. The reporter is left with little time to truly analyze or know the information he redistributes. This leads to a confusion between information and knowledge.
