The coverage of the conflagration at the Cutty Sark was accompanied by an outbreak of citizen journalism.
Several of the news sites were inviting readers to send in their photo's of the ship ablaze,this one courtesy of the Daily Mail.
The outbreak of the fire in the early hours of Monday with a number of people living in close proximity to the blaze was an ideal platform for user generated content rather like the fire at the Buncefield oil refinery in December 2005.
