Apparently Associated newspapers are trying to rebrand the paper's readership based on the fact that our perceptions of Middle England are all wrong.
"Mail readers are apparently not the Hyacinth Buckets
and Victor Meldrews, twitching a net curtain behind a privet hedge; instead they
are iPod-listening early adopters, who take their holidays in Dubai and like to
watch Desperate Housewives on their LCD screen, having recorded it earlier on
their PVR."
And to back this up there is a website modernmidbritain.com which has a population of 27,409,733 and is
"responsible for over 51% of consumer spend and they
have great social power due to their extended network of friends, family and
acquaintances. "
