A silly waste of licence-payer's money and another example of the relentless advance towards turning the Web into a Fisher-Price wonderland for simpletons."
That's Martin Belam's thoughts on the new upgrade of the BBC website
And acording to Martin ad his checklist on BBC resigns
Accusation that the new design represented 'dumbing down'? Check. Suggestion that it was the work of students rather than someone who had put any thought into it? Check. Waste of the Licence Fee? See above. Insistence that people should be fired because of the changes? Check.
Julia Whitney on the BBC internet blog says
we wanted a fresher, more modern and open look that makes better use of both horizontal space and photos. Some of the main themes seem to be
- Widening of the site
- use of white space
- The new masthead
- colours
Personally I quite like it,less cluttered and more easy to read although with less information it requires a little more hunting to find the information

I like it, it's bigger on the screen and easier to read. Just seems like people want a chance to attack the BBC for what is a good move to follow along with the update of bbc.co.uk - BBC News was beginning to look left behind compared to other news organisations.
