Latest ABC's and the Sun continues to soar

The latest ABC's are out today and the main news is that for the third succesive month the Sun has posted year on year increases in sales and has now taken over the No 1 spot from the News of the World.

An indication perhaps that the price cutting strategy is working as we head to recssion. The Sun is 10p cheaper in London and the South East and 5p cheaper in Scotland.

Other highlights.

The Times and the FT are the only qualtities to register increases in sales, with the other qualities showing year on year decreases.

The giveaway of the Paul McCartney Cd will the Mail on Sunday failed to produce any rises in Sales unlike it earlier foray into the giveaway market with Prince's CD.

Amongst the other Sunday's all apart from the Observer showed declines with those at the Independent double those of its rivals

Roy Greenslade calls it an historic day

Three records have been set. First, it marks the moment that The Sun has overtaken the sales of the News of the World. Second, it is the first time that the national dailies have collectively sold more than the national Sundays. And third, it is the first time that both the dailies and Sundays have failed to sell more than 11m each.
