R.I.P Rupert Hamer
The bare realities of war reporting for the journalist were brought home vividly yesterday as the death of Sunday Mirror reporter Rupert Hamer in Afghanistan was announced.
39 year old Hamer was embedded with the US marines and was killed in an explosion in Helmand province.his photographer,Philip Coburn, suffered severe leg injuries.
He is the first British journalist to be killed in the campaign and his death highlights the risks that journalists take on to report on conflicts around the world.
