According to the Pew Research Institute,American news values have changed little over the last 20 years.News of Disasters and Money news is the most popular and American audiences are least interested in Foreign News.
Interestingly the percentage of people who follow news in detail is now back at the levels of the 1980's after a similat survey showed a dip in the 1990's,though this probably reflects 9/11 coverage
