Paul Bradshaw has given his ten tips for student journalists,the one I always find quite remarkable is the first one.Read the newspapers and as I have said in this blog before,I am amazed how few actually do.
Not only the obvious that it is the best source of news but it also gives us some great examples of how to write stories,how to layout print and online and ideas for our own work
