One of the problems that has prevented the phasing out of printed material has been the lack of suitable technology to replace it.
The beauty of reading a paper,a periodical or a book is its portability, its accessabilty and its cost.
Lugging a laptop etc around with you, connecting and simply being able to read it are all reasons I prefer to carry books and newspapers around with me.
Perhaps though change is on the way.G2 carries a brilliant article from Andrew Marr entitled Curling up with a good ebook, superb journalist and self confessed luddite .
Andrew reviews the latest portable technology. The cost is still a little prohibitative at £449 + vat as is the cost of downloading the written word.
In terms of portabilty and accessabilty, things though are heading in the right direction
